Palliative medicine has been a recognized specialty since 2005. The Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine, within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, runs accreditation and advanced training, which general practitioners can also enter. Specialist clinicians report training gaps for chronic non-cancer disease.167,168
