Verification & Scope
Accessibility
Values in Care is designed for accessibility, targeting WCAG 2.1 AA. An independent audit has not yet been completed; we do not claim AAA.
What we have done
- Semantic landmarks (header, main, nav, footer) on every page.
- Keyboard navigation across all interactive controls; visible focus rings.
- Sliders include
aria-label,aria-valuemin/max/now, arrow-key support, +/− step buttons, and a numeric input as a non-mouse alternative to dragging. - Reduced-motion mode (Calm Mode) suppresses non-essential animation.
- Color contrast for body text targets the AA threshold; low-emphasis text is reviewed manually.
- Modal dialogs use focus trapping, return focus to trigger on close, and support Escape to close.
Known gaps
- Independent audit by a certified accessibility reviewer is in progress; we do not yet claim conformance.
- Data visualizations on the Data Hub do not yet provide complete text-equivalent alternatives for every chart.
- Translations (Spanish, Arabic) are partial; right-to-left layout for Arabic is functional but not yet fully audited.
